Description
Dry dates, also known as ‘Chuara‘ in Hindi, ‘Endu Kharjuram‘ in Telugu, ‘Pericham Pinju‘ in Tamil, ‘Vana kharjura‘ in Kannada, ‘Sookno Khejur‘ in Bengali, ‘Kharik‘ in Marathi, ‘Kharek‘ in Gujarati and 'Karakka' in Malayalam. Dry Dates are natural dried fruit. They are light brown or light yellow and shiny, do not stick to one another and are not infested with mites.
Dry dates are basically dates without the moisture which make them look harder and shriveled; these are also used for religious purposes during festivals in Indian households. Dried dates are more common and are simple to prepare, they can be used in salads, smoothies, oatmeal, desserts, and many other kinds of dishes. Dates are naturally sweet and they make a great substitute for refined sugar. For this reason, chuaras are very sweet and also have a subtle caramel-like taste.
